The company was founded 84 years and four generations ago by Benjamin Cohen who emigrated from Russia in the early 1900's. His son Saul helped him start the business and guided it through the turbulent 30's and 40's. Saul's son David joined the firm in 1953, and under his management it flourished, becoming a key supplier of tailored clothing to major and independent retailers. David's sons Benjamin and Peter began working at the company in the 70's and are the current co-presidents. Over the last decade S. Cohen has experienced a period of rapid expansion, entering new markets and redefining expectations of what tailored clothing can offer.
